Goals of the Club:
Gain an appreciation of Marine Ecosystems & experience the culture of a third world country.Brief Overview:
This Class is a cooperative course for students primarily from Jackson and North Canton, however, if space permits, we also accept students from Lake,GlenOak, and any of the other local schools.
In May, an informational meeting will be held to discuss details of the trip and course work. If you are interested in taking the class, you will pick up an application form at that meeting and return it to one of the advisors. You will be notified of your acceptance into the course for next year before you leave for the summer.Members:

Expenses for the field trip to Andros Island, Bahamas (in odd years) in March is approx. $2500, even years we travel the Key Largo in the Florida Keys which is approx. $1800. Needs- based scholarships are available on a limited basis.Special requirements to join:
Juniors and Seniors are selected by application and acceptance based on successful completion of Biology, attendance, behavior, overall GPA.Activities:
Weekly classes to learn about the Chemistry of Seawater, Geology, and all the various forms of marine organisms from algae and plankton to sponges, corals, fish and mammals. In years where we travel to the Bahamas, there will be two snorkel practices at the Jackson YMCARequirements to stay in the club:
Successful completion of required application, assignments, practices, & ability to swim and snorkel.Special Trips the Club takes:
In March, students attend a one-week trip to apply the knowledge gained in the class to sites in the real-world. We will take daily snorkel trips to various sites: patch reefs, barrier reefs, mangrove habitats, seagrass habitats and more!Additional Information:
