    Hello parents and students!

My name is Tonya Gillette and I will be serving as the JMMS counselor for students with last names that begin with Grb - Oi.  The 2025-2026 school year will mark the beginning of my 23rd year with Jackson Local Schools.  I’ve had the privilege of being a school counselor at Jackson High School for 15 of those years, during nine of which I served as the department chair.  I have a great deal of experience in assisting students achieve their academic, post-secondary and social/personal goals.  I was thrilled to join the staff at Jackson Memorial Middle School in 2017, and am excited to continue to work with the amazing staff and students at JMMS along with serving as department chair this school year.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from Kent State University and began my career in Canton City Schools as a special education teacher.  I began working as a school counselor at Jackson Local after graduating from The University of Akron in 2002 with a Master’s Degree in School Counseling (K-12).  My husband, Matt, is an English teacher at Jackson High School, and our two children attend Jackson High School.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
