    Hello parents and students!

My name is Tonya Gillette and I will be serving as the JMMS counselor for students with last names that begin with Grb - Oi.  The 2024-2025 school year will mark the beginning of my 22nd year with Jackson Local Schools.  I’ve had the privilege of being a school counselor at Jackson High School for 15 of those years, during nine of which I served as the department chair.  I have a great deal of experience in assisting students achieve their academic, post-secondary and social/personal goals.  I was thrilled to join the staff at Jackson Memorial Middle School in 2017, and am excited to continue to work with the amazing staff and students at JMMS.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from Kent State University and began my career in Canton City Schools as a special education teacher.  I began working as a school counselor at Jackson Local after graduating from The University of Akron in 2002 with a Master’s Degree in School Counseling (K-12).  My husband, Matt, is an English teacher at Jackson High School, and our two children attend Jackson High School.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
