    Birthdays:

Birthdays are an exciting time and I hope to help make your child’s day special.  Your child may bring in a snack to share with the class. I do ask that the item be already individualized to help your child pass it out. (Cupcakes, cookies, ect) Please no large cakes or large cookies. I am unable to cut these. At this time have 25 students.

If your child is having a party and would like to invite all the students in the class, or all the students of their gender, that is fine. I can help distribute invitations.  BUT, district policy does not all us to distribute invites to just a few students.

    Snack time:

With our lunch being at 12:45, we will be having a snack in the morning.  Students are allowed to bring in a quick, healthy snack. Fruit, crackers, pretzels or granola bars are great ideas.  Please no candy.

    Grading

We use a Standards base grading scale in 2nd grade. Your child will earn M, P, or N on their interims and progress reports.

M means your child has mastered the standard consistently without assistance.

P means you child is progressing, as they should be, towards mastery.

N means your child is not yet ready to complete the skill or concept independently.

    Absences and Tardies:

If your child has a fever, is vomiting, or has diarrhea, we ask that you call the school to call your child off until they are symptom free for 24 hours.  If your child becomes ill at school, I will send your child to the school clinic where they will be evaluated and you will most likely get a call. Again, we ask that you keep your child home for 24 hours from the time they are symptom free.

Cough drops are allowed, but you must send them in with a note and they are kept on my desk so I can monitor the times your child is taking them.  We are not allowed to administer any other kinds of medicine to your child without the proper school form completed by a medical doctor.

Just like being at school is important, so is being on time.  Students may enter the building at 8:45 each morning. The tardy bell rings at 8:55. If your child is going to be late or absent, please call the school and let us know.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I know this is going to be a great year!
